Happy belated Valentines Day!
Geeze, I feel like I haven't posted in forever! I have been consumed with figuring out my MacBook. I have never owned a Mac before, everything is all new to me but I am learning! I still switch back to my old PC when I get stuck on something though. :)
Anyways I thought I would share a project I did for my husband for Valentines Day. I got a little creative and combined it with something that's memorable for us.
I made a tree bark-like painting, but with our initials carved into it. We carve our initials in things when we go traveling. So I decided to make one for our home instead of carving into the walls here! haha

Here is a closer picture so you can see the details.
Okay, so for this I used:
canvas
acrylic paints (browns, a tiny bit of yellow, and little bit of metallic brown)
gel medium for texture (I mixed it in with some of the paint)
And last but not least MY FINGER (for the initials and heart)
It really didn't take too long to paint, I felt like I had to rush so the paint wouldn't dry so I could trace my finger through it. It worked out just fine though, the gel medium slows down the drying a bit too. I also did the painting in layers. Every time I added a new layer I made sure the first one was dry or almost dry. It's really up to you and how you want it to turn out. Just be creative like I did and you should be fine.
The whole time I was painting I was imagining tree bark so that helped.
Have fun!
ps: I bet crackle paint would be pretty cool to use on this project too!
